Five Minute Friday: Team

What's a team?
A team is one or more people working together to achieve a common goal. Each person on the team needs to trust the others and needs the others to trust them. Trust is gained through action and not words alone. In fact, for me, I don't even need your words. Action truly does speak loudest and best.

A marriage is the ultimate test of teamwork. My husband is an avid soccer fan. He grew up playing it and he is a season ticket holder for our Seattle Sounders. Sometimes I feel the only way I can explain to him about certain things I may be needing or that are lacking in our marriage is to describe us as a literal soccer team. We can't score a goal unless we work together. Strategize together. Celebrate together. Understand what each other needs.

Team.

  1. I love this: "Action truly does speak loudest and best." YES!! So often, we think it's enough to throw our words around; yet, they lack integrity because our behavior doesn't align. Thank you for the reminder! Visiting from Five Minute Friday, Valerie

    1. It really is such a good act of discipline for myself to remember as well; that I want my actions to represent what a say my values are.

  2. What a great metaphor. I went in a similar direction with my FMF post today. It's great when we remember that we are part of a team in marriage, instead of fighting against each other, we fight together for each other.

  3. Funny thing, when I saw 'strategize together' I read 'stargaze together'. It's the morphine kicking in, I guess; I'm terminal (pancreatic cancer, they say), but I think that stargazing together is a good thing too.

Love the picture of your family. We could not have kids; my wife's a cancer survivour via hysterectomy, and having severe PTSD (combat trauma) I really don't qualify for fostering or adoption...but your family...that picture is why I went armed into the bush. To protect and make safe moments like that.

Cost me my soul, but I'd do it again.

    1. Thank you so much for your service for our country! I'm sorry to hear about your cancer. I agree that stargazing sounds quite nice as well and probably would be a nice peaceful team activity. :)
